Republic of Moldova experience significant increase in generation of plastic waste, particularly with increase of sales volumes and replacement of traditional packaging (paper, glass, etc) with LDPE, PET, PE materials- all influencing  quantities and composition of generated waste. At legal level; Moldova has adopted the Law on Waste no 209/2016 and Packaging and packaging waste regulation, approved by GD 561/2020, which provide for implementation of the EPR principle for  packaging waste. The regulation entered into force in the beginning of 2023 and several EPR schemes have been created and are in initial phase of operation.  The mentioned above legislation is in process of amending and is to be supplemented with provisions related to setting up a DRS system for packaging. Pe data de 17-18 octombrie a avut loc o vizită de studiu în România pentru un schimb de experiență cu Sistemul de Colectare a Ambalajelor de Pesticide al Asociației Industriei de Protecție a Plantelor din Romania (AIPROM). Delegația Republicii Moldova a fost alcătuită din echipa Pro-Mediu, împreună cu reprezentanți ai Ministerului Mediului, Agenției de Mediu, Inspectoratului pentru Protecția Mediului și reprezentanții sistemului colectiv, care implementează principiul de responsabilitate extinsă a producătorului pentru produsele de uz fitosanitar – EcoSave, și fermieri, care sunt utilizatorii finali a acestor produse și care au misiunea de a asigura faptul că ambalajele sunt returnate distribuitorilor după utilizare. During October 10-11, 2023, AO AE Pro-Mediu, in collaboration with the Ministry of the Environment, organizes training programes for administrators of Environmental Agency and Environment Protection Inspection to maintain and for producers under EPR. The events are organized in the frames of the project “Reducing the environmental impact of plastic waste in border areas in Moldova” The aim of the events was to present and discuss with the participants the reporting of data on packaging and management of packaging waste, according to Law no. 209/2016 on waste and Regulation on packaging and packaging waste, approved by Government Decision no. 561/2020.
