Review and Update of the National Implementation Plan for the Republic of Moldova under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)

EA Pro-Mediu acts as a national executing agency for the project „Review and Update of the National Implementation Plan for the Republic of Moldova under the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs)”, implemented with the support of UNEP.

The project objective is to facilitate the implementation of the Stockholm Convention in the Republic of Moldova through the review, update and submission of the National Implementation Plan (NIP) to the Conference of the Parties of the Stockholm Convention (COP).

Local partner in implementing the EBRD/EIB project for Chisinau – Corporate Development Programme and Stakeholder Participation Plan for Solid Waste Management

The EBRD/EIB project for Chisinau – Corporate Development Programme and Stakeholder Participation Plan for Solid Waste Management, implemented by SEURECA, aimed to support the municipal waste collection company Regia Autosalubritate in improving its capacity to provide high quality, modern and affordable solid waste services.

Pro-Mediu acted as a local partner delivering consulting services on waste management policy and training activities, in particular, the following have been provided:

  • preliminary assessment of the institutional and legal context of the company
  • recommendations and a training plan for improvements
  • waste management policy and provide a preliminary analysis for the development of  the affordability policy.
  • medium term recommendations in line with the previous legal analysis, including a legal review of control over fixed assets
  • trainings on institutional strengthening and legal regulations in the sector of waste management
  • support the company to  implement the PSC
  • support the implementation of actions identified in the FOPIP and the CDP reports.

Environmental impact assessment study for the planned activity Protection of the territory adjacent to the Hulboaca stream against floods. Replacement of the flood control lake dam

The planned activity “Protection of the territory adjacent to the Hulboaca river against floods. Replacement of the flood controla lake dam”, involves relocation of flood control lake dam upstream on the side of the Balkani road and the discharge of the flood flow through an outlet collector to the point of connection with the existing collector.

The purpose of the works is to restore the original state of the existing resources on the selected territory, development of respective area and avoidance of possible floods, by regulating the water flow at the dam of the reservoir.
The project provides for the construction of the following objects:

  • The anti-flood lake dam;
  • The spillway in the body of the dam;
  • The discharge collector;
  • The excavated water reservoir;
  • Relocating a section of the rainwater network;
  • Diverting the water flows from the high-placed valleys.

Orange Green Academy – Training of Trainers on waste and chemicals management& circular economy

In October 2020, PRO MEDIU facilitated 2 weeks course on waste management, chemicals around us and circular economy principles for 35 company staff and representatives around the country.

ToT objectives included:

  • The concept of waste, waste management hierarchy and circular economy
  • Analysis of the types of waste we generate
  • Approach to waste management operations
  • Analysis and presentation of the term circular economy – The way the circular economy relates to energy efficiency

Analysis of status on use of potentially harmful substances and application of sustainable procurement practices in healthcare sector of the Republic of Moldova

In the period September-October 2019, in the framework of the Sustainable Health in Procurement Project (SHiPP), supported by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), the team of experts conducted the analysis of status on use of potentially harmful substances and application of sustainable procurement practices in healthcare sector of the Republic of Moldova.

The report describes the results of analysis of status on use of potentially harmful substances and application of sustainable procurement practices in healthcare sector in the Republic of Moldova. The results are indicative of the likely use of hazardous and high concern chemicals in the healthcare sector, context of their use, and in case of the generation of hazardous waste, their treatment mode.
